Our Backgrounds
As a Graduate Physics major, I found myself coaching the Diving Team. This was my first stint in using Physics with sports. I immediately saw as the divers came to understand how they moved through the air, their scores dramatically improved.
This convinced me of the value of understanding the physical aspects of any sport I was participating in or watching.I am not alone in this. ESPN has recently been showing segments on what they call Sports Science.
When I began cycling, I started to explore its physical aspects and writing them down in notes. What I originally expected maybe 100 pages, it quickly grew into 400. This was due not the complexity, but rather the scope of cycling topics.
This website is based on these notes and focused on presenting some of the insights that specifically can help other cyclists ride more effectively, understand what is working and what is not working, and to appreciate the amazing things that bicycles can do.
Use of these Materials
Physics is Physics and the formulas are what they are. These materials have been presented to aid those who wish to understand the physical underpinnings of cycling.
However, these notes are based on materials planned on being published in the near future and so are copyright protected. If you wish to use a section of these notes, I would appreciate attribution. However, any repackaging of these notes would be considered to be copyright infringement.
Meet the Team
Write something about the people who make your business go or your philosophy behind customer service.
Why? Because people want to know who they’re doing business with. It’s a human thing.
Include a short bio with an interesting fact about the person.
